First Volunteer Rapid Response Crew day:
Wednesday, June 15, 2011
Colchester, Vermont
4-6 pm
Thanks to everyone who signed up to be a volunteer on our rapid response crew! As you probably know, the Lake Champlain shoreline has sustained a lot of damage, from fallen trees and high waves eroding banks– to tons of debris piling up along the lake’s edge.
We will be holding our FIRST volunteer workshop on the afternoon of June 15 at Niquette Bay State Park. Everyone is welcome! For the first 30 minutes, we will train volunteers how to assess lakeshore damage and recover shorelines. Armed with this knowledge, our rapid response crew members will have the tools necessary to visit our other conserved lakeshore areas and perform their own assessments. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent repairing a trail in the park.
Please meet at the Niquette Bay parking lot and, if you have them, bring work gloves and trailbuilding tools. Snacks will be provided. We hope to see you June 15!
